Principal Systems Engineer, Datacenter Interconnects and Fabric Health

NVIDIA•Santa Clara, CA
•$240,000 - $379,500

About The Position

NVIDIA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Systems Engineer to work on datacenter interconnects and fabric health. The role focuses on root cause analysis and resolution of complex issues across server and data center platforms involving electrical, mechanical, thermal, and firmware components. The engineer will take a multidisciplinary approach to system-level problem-solving in a dynamic, collaborative environment. The position leads cross-functional debugging of hardware and firmware issues, particularly involving high-speed interconnects and fabrics. It includes hands-on failure analysis across system validation, production, and in-field operation; developing and validating fixes with engineering and manufacturing teams; creating tests and automation to improve debugging; providing technical guidance; documenting findings; and driving corrective and preventive actions with suppliers and internal teams. The expected base salary range is USD 240,000–379,500, determined by location, experience, and other objective job-related factors. The employee is also eligible for equity and benefits. Applications will be accepted at least until November 6, 2026. This posting is for an existing vacancy. NVIDIA uses AI tools in its recruiting processes.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in system-level debugging on data center/server or similar hardware platforms.
  • Deep understanding of system architecture, including CPUs, memory, high-speed I/Os, power delivery, thermal management, and firmware.
  • Proven experience debugging electrical issues such as signal integrity and power integrity; thermal issues such as airflow and cooling design; and firmware anomalies such as BIOS/UEFI and BMC.
  • Proficiency with tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and firmware debugging equipment or utilities.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across fields and teams.
