Principal Datacenter HSIO Engineer

NVIDIA•Santa Clara, CA
•$240,000 - $379,500

About The Position

NVIDIA is seeking a technical expert to join a new organization leading datacenter product design and building next-generation datacenter infrastructure for AI. The role drives system architecture from silicon through rack level and leads optimization across power delivery, thermal design, signal integrity, and mechanical constraints. It also develops features to improve GPU performance, collaborates with suppliers on interconnect, power delivery, and memory solutions, supports validation teams, and works with customers as needed.

Requirements

  • 15 or more years of experience in a rigorous technical hardware role interfacing with systems, such as system architecture, PCB design, mixed-signal design, hardware validation, system verification, or signal integrity.
  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Deep curiosity and ability to use core technical competencies to provide direction on system architecture.
  • Ability to assess broad tradeoffs for product success.
  • Ability and motivation to manage concurrent projects and priorities under tight deadlines in a multifaceted environment.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with multifunctional teams, including software, firmware, marketing, and mixed-signal teams.
  • Previous experience with L10/L11.
  • Deep understanding of system-level (L11) power architecture tradeoffs.
  • Knowledge and experience with modern optical communications, including pluggables and CPO.
  • Strong signal and power integrity background with hands-on lab experience using an oscilloscope, TDR, and VNA.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with applied ML frameworks and successful applications of AI/ML to hardware problems.
  • Understanding of electrical versus mechanical tradeoffs.
  • Proficiency with CAD simulation tools.
  • Ability to think outside the box.

Responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end system architecture from silicon to rack level.
  • Lead cross-domain optimization involving power delivery, thermal design, signal integrity, and mechanical constraints.
  • Develop features at silicon and system levels to improve GPU performance.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers on electrical and optical interconnect, power delivery, and memory solutions.
  • Provide expertise and support to validation teams in planning and execution.
  • Work with customers as needed to help deliver products.
