Senior Product Quality Engineer, Network and Interconnects

IREN•San Francisco, CA
•$240,000 - $300,000•Hybrid

About The Position

The Senior Product Quality Engineer, Network and Interconnects owns manufacturing and product quality for IREN’s AI infrastructure network racks and interconnect hardware, including switches, NICs, optics, cabling, and rack-scale fabrics. This senior individual-contributor role sets quality standards for mass-production deployment and serves as the senior escalation point for network and interconnect failures. The position partners with Engineering, Technical Sourcing, AI Hardware Supply Chain Operations, Data Center Operations, and OEM/ODM/JDM manufacturing partners to deliver network racks that meet cost, quality, and yield targets at scale. The role owns product and manufacturing quality from new product introduction through volume production and sustaining. It develops scalable rack manufacturing and integration processes, advances rack- and fabric-level test coverage, and leads troubleshooting and corrective action for network failures. The position is based in the San Francisco Bay Area under a hybrid work arrangement. Until IREN’s planned Santa Clara office opens, the role will work remotely, then transition to hybrid on-site work. Domestic and international travel to manufacturing partner, supplier, integration, and data center sites is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in manufacturing, test, and product quality for networking or data center hardware, ideally at a hyperscaler, cloud provider, or AI infrastructure company.
  • Knowledge of network hardware technologies, including routing, switching, transport, and optics.
  • Proven experience with OEM/ODM/JDM manufacturing partners and networking suppliers delivering switches, NICs, optics, and cable assemblies.
  • Working expertise with manufacturing and link-level testing for network hardware, including BER and eye-margin testing, optical power and loss measurement, and fabric burn-in.
  • Hands-on experience driving manufacturing operations, including reliability and quality requirements, First Article Inspection, and acceptance criteria for network hardware.
  • Strong knowledge of quality methodologies (FACA, 8D, FMEA, SPC, and yield analysis), PLM-based BOM and change management, and data center spares planning.
  • Strong problem-solving, data-analysis, and communication skills, with the ability to operate autonomously and drive root cause and corrective actions across cross-functional and supplier teams.
  • Must be able to reliably commute to the assigned office on scheduled in-office days under the hybrid arrangement.
  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally to manufacturing partner, supplier, integration, and data center sites.
  • Pre-employment screening, including a background check and substance testing, may be required according to company policies.
