Product Support and Quality Engineer

Baseline Energy Services•Oklahoma City, OK
•Onsite

About The Position

The Quality Engineer develops, implements, and continuously improves quality systems and inspection controls to ensure Baseline Energy Services’ generator packages and power distribution equipment meet engineering, customer, and regulatory requirements during building, rebuilding, and deployment. The role works closely with Operations, Field Service, Engineering, Supply Chain, Reliability, HSE, and suppliers to identify quality risks, investigate failures, and drive corrective actions that prevent recurrence. It combines engineering fundamentals with shop-floor involvement and uses data, structured problem-solving, and risk analysis to improve product quality and fleet reliability. The position is based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and may require travel of up to 15% to third-party packagers as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Quality, or Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent quality experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • At least 2 years of quality experience in a production environment, including resolving production-floor quality issues and analyzing quality data to identify trends, variation, and systemic failures.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, electrical diagrams, and acceptance criteria.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and lean manufacturing.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple quality issues based on safety, customer impact, production impact, and recurrence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills at both shop-floor and leadership levels.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% to third-party packagers as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in power generation, engines, heavy equipment, oil and gas, industrial assembly, fabrication, or electrical/mechanical systems.
  • Experience with Minitab or similar statistical software.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain inspection plans, acceptance criteria, and test procedures for new builds, rebuilds, modifications, and make-ready units, including final inspection and functional/load testing before units leave the yard.
  • Develop and maintain Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Control Plans with Manufacturing and Operations.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and work instructions to ensure appropriate quality controls are established.
  • Develop and validate inspection and test methods.
  • Manage product and process nonconformances, including containment, investigation, disposition, corrective action, and effectiveness verification.
  • Support process, product, layered process, and Quality Management System audits.
  • Lead and support structured root cause analysis and corrective action using methods such as 5-Why, Fishbone, and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA).
  • Analyze field failures, warranty issues, and maintenance history to identify build-related root causes, and feed lessons learned back into build processes, specifications, and design.
  • Provide technical quality support to shop and field personnel when product or process abnormalities occur.
  • Work with suppliers to investigate nonconformances, establish containment, and implement corrective actions.
  • Establish receiving inspection requirements for critical components and assemblies.
  • Support evaluation and qualification of new suppliers, components, and technologies.
  • Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC), process capability, trend, and Pareto analysis to identify variation and improve product and process quality.
  • Monitor and report quality metrics, including First-Pass Yield (FPY), defect rates, scrap, rework, Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), and corrective-action effectiveness.
  • Use MLink telemetry and field data to identify early-life failures and build-related quality trends.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and data-driven recommendations for leadership on process changes, supplier changes, and fleet standardization.
  • Maintain equipment drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other engineering records under revision control.
  • Prepare technical reports documenting investigations, validation activities, and corrective actions.
  • Train and transfer knowledge to shop technicians and field operations personnel.
  • Incorporate safety, regulatory, and industry requirements—including electrical, environmental, emissions, and mechanical requirements—into quality controls, inspection criteria, and acceptance testing.
  • Partner with HSE to identify and mitigate quality- and equipment-related hazards, and support incident investigations requiring engineering or quality analysis.
  • Promote quality at the source, standardized work, and data-driven decision-making.
