About The Position

This role is for a Principal Solution Domain Expert focused on API Management (APIM) at Boomi. The individual will own the APIM domain, setting the Go-To-Market (GTM) strategy, enabling the sales field, and providing deep expertise for key deals. Boomi's APIM offering is a core part of the Boomi Enterprise Platform, built on acquisitions of Mashery and Apiida, and includes capabilities like API Federation, API Governance, API Security, and a Developer Portal. The role is crucial for Boomi's platform growth ambition, shifting towards strategic platform selling. The APIM offering is designed to address API sprawl, security threats, and fragmented multi-gateway environments, especially in the context of Agentic AI. The role involves working closely with other domain experts in Data Management and iPaaS & MFT to create a unified platform story. The expert will be the go-to person for product, market, and competitive landscape knowledge within APIM.

Requirements

  • Proven background in API Management, integration, or an adjacent domain in a Sales Engineering, Solutions Consulting, or Pre-Sales capacity with a clear track record of influencing or driving revenue.
  • Deep knowledge of the APIM market: key players, their strengths and weaknesses, buying personas, and enterprise challenges (API sprawl, governance gaps, security threats, multi-gateway fragmentation).
  • Hands-on familiarity with API gateway architectures, developer portals, API lifecycle management, and federated API control across multi-cloud environments.
  • Ability to engage credibly at all levels, from platform architects to CIOs.
  • Experience building and executing structured sales plays: from ICP definition and messaging through to asset creation, field enablement, and pipeline tracking.
  • Clear, confident communicator who can translate complex API concepts into compelling business outcomes and ROI narratives.
  • Self-directed, collaborative, and comfortable managing multiple priorities across a distributed, global team without close supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with Boomi APIM — specifically the Mashery API Management platform and/or Apiida and how they are integrated into the Boomi Enterprise Platform.
  • Familiarity with the broader Boomi platform (Integration & Automation, Data Management, and AI Agent Management) and the platform selling motion.
  • Experience in or across APAC or NA markets with an understanding of regional enterprise buying behavior and partner ecosystems.
  • Knowledge of Agentic AI, MCP (Model Context Protocol), and how API management plays a foundational role in AI agent connectivity and governance.
  • Relevant certifications such as Boomi Professional, MuleSoft Certified, Google Apigee, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Lead domain-led discovery and executive labs for Tier 1 strategic APIM opportunities, driving significant Annual Contract Value (ACV) in multi-product, competitive displacement, and enterprise accounts.
  • Partner with Account Executives, Sales Engineers, and other GTM teams to transition deals from product-led to platform-led selling, emphasizing how Boomi APIM solves API chaos within the broader Enterprise Platform.
  • Collaborate with marketing, Product Marketing Managers (PMMs), and Field Engineers to develop compelling positioning and competitive differentiation for Boomi's APIM capabilities (Mashery and Apiida) for both technical architects and C-level buyers.
  • Support complex RFP/RFI responses and strategic account planning by providing domain authority and tailored APIM narratives.
  • Define and operationalize 1-2 core APIM sales plays per quarter across Demand Generation, Attach, and Expand motions.
  • Build necessary play assets, including executive talk tracks, demo kits, solution briefs, competitive battle cards, and digital sales rooms for Highspot, in conjunction with PMMs and Field Engineers.
  • Work cross-functionally with PMM, SDRs, and Partners to activate plays through inbound and outbound motions, and monitor performance against pipeline and attach rate targets.
  • Lead customer and partner workshops, including GTM labs, executive briefings, and strategic account sessions.
  • Enable and coach Sales, SEs, and Field Engineers on the Boomi APIM narrative, platform positioning, and competitive strategies against key players like Kong, Apigee, MuleSoft, Azure APIM, and WSO2.
  • Represent Boomi as a credible APIM voice at industry events, analyst engagements, and customer conferences.
  • Establish a structured feedback loop from the field to PMM to translate customer insights and competitive signals into product roadmap input.
  • Monitor the APIM market, including the impact of Agentic AI, MCP (Model Context Protocol), and API security trends, and equip the field to respond.
