About The Position

Avery Dennison is hiring for a software engineering role within its retail technology platform. The position focuses on helping grocers modernize physical stores through Electronic Shelf Labels (ESLs), in-store printing, and digital video screen campaigns. It combines technical strategy and business execution, beginning as a high-level individual contributor who builds solutions and later transitioning into a technical leadership role as the team grows. The role oversees software product development across the lifecycle, from conception and deployment through operation and maintenance. It involves clarifying business needs, contributing to long-range system plans, ensuring software products and services meet business needs, and setting technical standards that promote quality and minimize technical debt. The engineer also evaluates whether to integrate third-party partners or build bespoke solutions, ensuring technical investments support profitability. This is a remote position. The role initially operates as a single contributor and may later involve hiring, onboarding, and leading a team of engineers.
