About The Position

Avery Dennison is hiring for a role focused on its retail technology platform, helping grocers modernize physical stores through Electronic Shelf Labels (ESLs), in-store printing, and digital video screen campaigns. The role combines technical strategy and business execution: it begins as a high-level individual contributor building software solutions and is expected to transition into a technical lead role as the product and team grow. The position involves directing software development from conception through deployment, operation, and maintenance; clarifying business needs; contributing to long-range system plans; and establishing technical standards that support quality and minimize technical debt. It also requires evaluating when to integrate third-party partners to accelerate time to market versus build custom solutions for competitive advantage, while ensuring technical investments support the business’s path to profitability. The position is remote.

  • Evaluate the technical viability of third-party partners versus in-house solutions and advise leadership on technical feasibility.
  • As the product matures, help hire, onboard, and lead a team of engineers.
  • Establish code quality standards, CI/CD pipelines, and a development culture.
  • Clarify business needs, contribute to long-range system plans, and ensure software products and services meet business needs.
