About The Position

Avery Dennison is hiring for a software engineering role supporting its retail technology platform. The position focuses on helping grocers modernize physical stores through Electronic Shelf Labels (ESLs), in-store printing, and digital video screen campaigns. The role combines technical strategy with business execution: initially, the engineer will work as a high-level individual contributor building solutions, with the opportunity to transition into a technical lead role as the team scales. The position directs software development from conception through deployment, operation, and maintenance. It involves clarifying business needs, contributing to long-range system plans, ensuring software products and services meet business needs, and setting technical standards that promote quality and minimize technical debt. The role also evaluates whether to integrate third-party partners for faster time to market or build bespoke solutions for competitive advantage, with technical investments supporting the company's path to profitability. The posting describes the position as remote, despite the title's Little Rock, Arkansas location. The role includes supporting in-store pilots, troubleshooting live production issues, and deploying hotfixes during customer rollouts.
