Principal Software Engineer (Hybrid - Aguadilla, PR)
About The Position
Strategic Defense Solutions is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to support the design, development, and validation of multi-domain and integrated mission systems for aircraft and ground stations supporting U.S. military customers. This role focuses on translating customer needs and requirements into robust system solutions, contributing across the full spectrum of hardware and software systems—from standalone “black box” components to complex, end-to-end platform architectures. This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered. This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.
Requirements
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
- Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python and OO C++ and equivalent
- Experience with DevOps, Jenkins, automated testing, real-time operating systems (RTOS), embedded programming, processor/board architecture and design
- Proven Technical Leadership
- Support security clearance investigations for clearance request certifications
- Familiarity with Agile lifecycle process including Scrum, Continuous Integration, and Test-Driven Development Methodologies.
- Interest in modern SE development.
