About The Position

As a Principal Site Reliability Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Enterprise Technology, Infrastructure Platforms team, you will use advanced knowledge to identify opportunities to influence critical incident management and improve the end-to-end software development lifecycle. You will manage, design, and implement infrastructure components that improve reliability and operational efficiency. The role serves as the infrastructure arm of CIB's Electronic Trading Services (ETS), supporting high-uptime, auto-recoverable systems under a follow-the-sun model across multiple locations. It emphasizes proactive scaling and preventing recurring problems, with a focus on network design to reduce future incidents. The role also leads adoption of AI-assisted reliability workflows while ensuring validation, traceability, resiliency, and security controls.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in site reliability engineering concepts and 10+ years of applied experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes, with considerable depth in one or more technical disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities in the work environment to improve reliability engineering workflows, with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
  • Ability to validate AI-assisted operational recommendations before applying changes, escalate when uncertain, and follow data sensitivity requirements.
  • Ability to determine how systems relate to one another and use a breadth of tools to drive automation, process improvement, and reliability for the firm.
  • Experience translating research, analysis, and tests into business recommendations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating in high-uptime, auto-recoverable infrastructure environments supporting a follow-the-sun model across multiple locations.
  • Experience in or exposure to infrastructure and understanding how reliability work delivers direct business benefits.
  • Track record of addressing problems at scale rather than focusing on individual incident fixes, with an emphasis on network design improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and solve highly complex problems and drive improvements.
  • Use enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to accelerate complex incident analysis and reliability decision-making, validating outputs and handling operational data according to sensitivity and security requirements.
  • Work with development teams throughout the software lifecycle to support sustainable software releases.
  • Lead medium to large projects by bringing together appropriate perspectives, identifying roadblocks, and integrating team and firm feedback.
  • Manage, design, and implement infrastructure components to improve reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Influence management and stakeholders through clear recommendations and measurable reliability outcomes.
  • Lead reuse-first adoption of AI-assisted reliability workflows across SDLC and toolchain practices, ensuring traceability, auditability, resiliency, and security controls.
  • Support CIB's Electronic Trading Services as its infrastructure arm, maintaining high-uptime, auto-recoverable systems across multiple locations under a follow-the-sun model.
  • Proactively plan for scaling and preventing recurring problems rather than focusing only on resolving issues as they arise.
  • Focus on network design to reduce future incident occurrences.
