•$165,600 - $331,200

About The Position

The Principal Product Manager will own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for commerce catalog APIs and lead the catalog gap roadmap for Microsoft AI Experiences. The role defines what product, offer, and Product Graph data is exposed, to whom, and at what quality bar, supporting Copilot, Bing, Edge, and external AI partners. It focuses on turning fragmented product and offer data into grounded, high-confidence recommendations and actions by improving catalog coverage, quality, freshness, and reliability. This is a senior individual-contributor position working with a large, experienced engineering and applied science team. The role drives strategy, execution, partner readiness, adoption, and go-to-market activities, while aligning stakeholders across organizational boundaries. Responsibilities span API design and governance, trusted data exposure, ingestion and supply, quality measurement, roadmap prioritization, and transitions that preserve consumer continuity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience in product, service, or program management or software development, or equivalent experience.
  • Track record of leading large, senior engineering teams as an individual contributor and influencing stakeholders across organizational boundaries and with external partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of experience in product, service, or program management or software development, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market, including design, product-market fit, and launch.
  • 8+ years of experience improving product metrics in a market, such as growing a customer base, expanding usage, or avoiding customer churn.
  • 8+ years of experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in product catalogs, product data platforms, marketplaces, or commerce search, such as product identity and matching, taxonomy and attribute enrichment, merchant feed ingestion, or price and availability data.
  • Experience shipping and scaling externally consumed APIs or data platforms, including schema design, versioning, documentation, service levels, and partner onboarding.
  • Experience defining quality metrics and evaluations for data or AI systems, such as coverage, precision and recall, freshness, and factuality, and using them to set engineering priorities.
  • Technical fluency to engage deeply with engineering and applied science on data pipelines, ML-based matching and enrichment, and LLM grounding.

Responsibilities

  • Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for catalog APIs covering product, offer, and Product Graph data, including schemas, versioning, documentation, and consumer-specific standards for coverage, freshness, latency, and availability.
  • Define what catalog data is exposed and to whom, including data-rights boundaries, merchant controls and exclusions, attribution, and Responsible AI, privacy, and security requirements in partnership with Legal, Privacy, and Security.
  • Drive partner and developer onboarding, evaluation criteria, usage and quality telemetry, and the staged progression from offline evaluation through limited pilot to production traffic.
  • Work with engineering and applied science leaders to prioritize measurable catalog coverage and quality improvements across demand coverage, product identity and clustering, attributes and metadata, taxonomy, price and availability accuracy, and freshness.
  • Own the import and ingestion roadmap with engineering, including merchant feeds and commerce platform connectors.
  • Define catalog and API quality metrics and evaluation frameworks, ensure telemetry is available, and use results to guide investment and tradeoff decisions.
  • Synthesize telemetry, evaluations, partner and merchant feedback, and industry trends into roadmap bets; serve as a subject matter expert on catalog and product data across divisional boundaries.
  • Write strategy documents, PRDs, and release criteria, review them with senior leaders, and align MAI and partner teams on priorities and tradeoffs.
  • Lead a large, senior engineering team as an individual contributor; prioritize the backlog, make difficult tradeoffs, identify capabilities to deprecate, and lead transitions without disrupting consumers.
  • Partner with business development, product marketing, and partner teams on adoption, retention, and monetization of catalog capabilities.
  • Embody Microsoft's culture and values.
