About The Position

Recurly is seeking a Principal Product Manager to lead Recurly Commerce as a business, with ownership of its vision, strategy, roadmap, and commercial success. The role calls for a founder-style, mini-General-Manager mindset: shaping the product while taking hands-on responsibility for moving it forward across Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Customer teams. The position focuses on building and scaling a B2B product from early bets to traction, using deep Shopify ecosystem knowledge to differentiate Commerce from Shopify's native capabilities and other competitors. The Principal Product Manager will partner closely with Sales and Marketing on go-to-market work, engage directly with customers and prospects, own product KPIs, and guide the product lifecycle from discovery through launch. The role requires adaptability, sound technical judgment, and a bias toward speed and reliable delivery.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of B2B SaaS product management experience, including direct 0-to-1 ownership.
  • Experience building and scaling a B2B product from the ground up in a startup environment.
  • Deep, hands-on familiarity with the Shopify ecosystem, including API architecture, Shopify Plus, and partner or app requirements.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, independent decision-making, and accountability for outcomes.
  • Track record of driving alignment and results across Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Customer teams.
  • Strong product management fundamentals in vision-setting, strategy, and roadmapping, along with the ability to execute and ship.
  • Technical fluency in conversations about APIs, infrastructure, and data, including the ability to reason credibly about technical trade-offs.
  • Strong communication skills and executive presence, with the ability to build trust with customers, sales representatives, engineers, and executives.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with subscription, billing, or commerce-adjacent products.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Commerce vision, product strategy, roadmap, and commercial success.
  • Build and scale a B2B product from early-stage bets to market traction; validate ideas, move quickly, and decide when to invest further or stop.
  • Use Shopify ecosystem knowledge to develop a roadmap that differentiates Recurly Commerce from native Shopify capabilities and third-party competitors.
  • Align and unblock stakeholders across Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success without relying on formal authority.
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing on positioning, pricing, and enablement; meet with customers and prospects to test ideas and build pipeline confidence.
  • Manage the product lifecycle from discovery through launch, breaking strategic bets into high-value increments and supporting speed-to-market and reliable delivery.
  • Define and own KPIs, including subscriber growth, retention, merchant health, and ACV; use data to guide roadmap decisions and communicate impact to leadership.
  • Take on hands-on work as needed, such as writing specifications, handling customer escalations, drafting sales talk tracks, or working with Engineering to debug webhook issues.
