About The Position

G2 is hiring a Principal Product Manager to own the buyer experience across G2.com, G2.ai, Capterra, Software Advice, and GetApp. The role focuses on helping software buyers make confident decisions in a changing landscape where AI has reshaped discovery and evaluation. The product leader will turn anonymous traffic into known, returning buyers and build high-quality demand for B2B software. This is a senior individual-contributor position with a general-manager mindset and accountability for business outcomes. The person will set product strategy and metrics, make roadmap and business tradeoffs, and work hands-on with Engineering and Design to discover, prototype, and ship products. They will run a high-cadence experimentation program, use buyer research and data to guide decisions, and align teams across Product, Engineering, Design, Data, Marketing, and Revenue. The role also includes mentoring PMs, contributing to hiring standards, and shaping how the product organization operates. G2 describes its culture as grounded in PEAK values—Performance, Entrepreneurship, Authenticity, and Kindness—and emphasizes a diverse, global community, employee-led ERGs, and DEI and philanthropic efforts.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of product management experience, including Principal- or lead-level ownership of a major consumer-facing product.
  • B2B SaaS experience and clear understanding of how buyers research, evaluate, and purchase software, and how vendors go to market.
  • Experience owning a P&L, business line, or growth number, with decision-making based on business impact.
  • Record of shipping consumer-grade products at scale, such as growth, personalization, search and discovery, or marketplace experiences that had to earn adoption.
  • 0-to-1 experience launching or scaling a new product or category from concept through growth.
  • Strong product taste and craft, including ability to critique designs, set a quality bar, and distinguish good work from finished work.
  • Fluency with data and experimentation, including use of metrics, A/B tests, and closed-loop reporting for high-stakes decisions.
  • AI-native working style, using AI tools daily to research, prototype, analyze, and ship, and a point of view on AI's impact on discovery and evaluation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and ability to influence senior stakeholders in ambiguous environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with a two-sided marketplace, review or user-generated-content platform, media or content-led product, or data and insights product.
  • Experience growing logged-in or registered user bases and building lifecycle, personalization, or recommendation systems.
  • Experience designing for AI assistants, agents, MCP, or similar integrations.
  • Experience mentoring senior product managers.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product vision, roadmap, and operating metrics for Buyer Products; make and sequence strategic bets and decide what not to build.
  • Focus on buyer needs and build trust as a long-term asset by improving software decision-making experiences.
  • Make business tradeoffs and collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Finance, and monetization teams to balance buyer value and revenue.
  • Lead discovery, define requirements, and drive delivery with Engineering and Design; prototype, write specifications, and use AI-native tools to ship changes where useful.
  • Run a high-cadence experimentation program: define hypotheses, interpret results, and make ship, iterate, or kill decisions with Data Science and Analytics.
  • Work in small, AI-enabled squads with a bias toward shipping and learning.
  • Develop expertise on how buyers research and evaluate software, including how AI assistants affect the process, and conduct ongoing qualitative and quantitative research, including with senior buyers.
  • Translate buyer signals into product decisions and a clear narrative for the executive team.
  • Align Product, Engineering, Design, Data, Marketing, and Revenue teams around a buyer strategy.
  • Mentor product managers, help set the hiring bar, and shape the operating practices of the PM organization.
