Parabilis Medicines•Cambridge, MA
•$170,000 - $205,000

About The Position

Parabilis Medicines is seeking a Principal Product Manager to define and implement the vision, roadmap, and delivery of the informatics, AI, and data products that support the organization. Reporting to the Senior Director of Software and Data Engineering, this senior individual contributor will work with engineering and scientific leadership to shape product direction and translate stakeholder needs into pragmatic, sequenced plans. The role leads through influence rather than direct people management, prioritizing work, defining requirements, and supporting cross-functional delivery. The Product Manager will partner closely with data science and engineering teams, as well as research teams working across computational biology, bioinformatics, computational drug discovery, research informatics, and data engineering. The remit includes scientific discovery work and AI-driven tools for functions across the company. The role emphasizes early working prototypes, frequent user feedback, sustainable product decisions, and measuring adoption and impact.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in a scientific, engineering, or computational field.
  • 8+ years of product management or product ownership experience delivering software products.
  • Experience working in life sciences, such as pharmaceutical or biotechnology, or a closely adjacent regulated sector.
  • Demonstrated delivery record, including shipped products adopted by real users and concrete outcomes.
  • Ability to frame problems and set direction while also going deep when a decision requires it.
  • Heavy, fluent personal use of AI tools to automate and scale work, with sound judgment about where AI is beneficial to the business.
  • Strong requirements-gathering and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to build rapport and trust quickly.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both bench scientists and executives.
  • Decisiveness under ambiguity and flexibility to change direction when evidence changes.
  • Technical fluency sufficient to work credibly with software engineers on architecture, scope, and technical-debt tradeoffs; coding is not required.
  • Demonstrated experience with iterative, prototype-driven delivery and regular user feedback loops.

Nice To Haves

  • Subject matter expertise in drug discovery, research informatics, or computational biology.
  • Experience building internal AI/ML platforms or agentic tools for non-technical users.
  • Familiarity with regulated or compliance-driven environments, including GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA, or ISO 27001.
  • Experience as the first or only product hire in an organization and establishing product practice from scratch.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the product vision and roadmap for AI, informatics, and data products, translating organizational strategy into an executable sequence of work.
  • Partner with stakeholders across research, development, clinical, and business functions to gather requirements, build trust, and prioritize critical needs.
  • Own execution plans, timelines, and delivery for the company-wide portfolio of AI-driven life science tools; identify opportunities to automate and scale work, create reliable and reproducible tools, and turn open-ended possibilities into prioritized workstreams.
  • Work with software engineers and data scientists to create clearly scoped plans with realistic timelines and communicated tradeoffs.
  • Use functional prototypes to put working software in front of users early, gather regular feedback, and iterate.
  • Make pragmatic decisions under real timelines while protecting the long-term sustainability and quality of products.
  • Use AI extensively in research, requirements, specifications, prototypes, and analysis, setting an example for scaling a small team's output.
  • Define success measures for each product, track adoption and impact, and hold the team and self accountable to those measures.

  • Annual target bonus
