Principal Group Product Manager

Microsoft•Redmond, WA

About The Position

Microsoft’s Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization enables the hardware infrastructure underlying Microsoft’s Cloud and AI growth. Its responsibilities span traditional supply chain functions—including plan, source, make, and deliver—as well as supportability, sustainability, and datacenter asset decommissioning worldwide. The Supply Chain Product Management organization builds systems, tools, and processes for Microsoft’s Cloud and Devices Supply Chains, embedding AI into supply chain solutions. The Principal Group Product Manager will lead a portfolio of hardware planning product capabilities across sales and operations planning (S&OP) and supportability for Cloud server and network assets. The role includes hiring, managing, and developing product managers, defining strategy and roadmaps for complex planning transformations, and coordinating planning systems and stakeholders across the organization. The position translates ambiguous problems into product requirements, process designs, phased capabilities, and measurable outcomes, while driving implementation, adoption, governance, and executive decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience in product, service, or program management or software development, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of people management experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing a Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years of experience in product, service, or program management or software development, or equivalent experience.
  • More than 7 years of product management leadership experience in supply chain, cloud infrastructure, capacity planning, enterprise planning, or large-scale operations.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional transformation programs spanning business, product, engineering, finance, and operations stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of integrated planning, including S&OP, S&OE, demand/supply reconciliation, supportability, capacity planning, scenario planning, and execution handoffs.
  • Ability to simplify complex topics into clear strategy, decisions, tradeoffs, and business outcomes for executives.
  • Experience leading through ambiguity when ownership, process boundaries, systems, and decision rights are undefined.
  • Strong systems thinking about how changes in planning processes, data sources, or workflows affect downstream commitments and execution.
  • Track record of building product roadmaps that connect long-term vision to release plans, adoption milestones, and measurable business impact.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders, peer teams, engineering organizations, and operational leaders without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills, including use of metrics to diagnose process health, prioritize investments, and measure transformation outcomes.
  • More than 7 years of experience managing product managers and scaling product discipline across a portfolio.
  • Excellent communication skills, including executive storytelling, decision framing, and articulation of risks and dependencies.
  • Emphasis on operational clarity, accountability, and durable process design rather than only producing and shipping features.
  • Experience using and implementing SAP IBP.

  • Create executive-ready narratives, decision forums, and review materials covering problems, risks, dependencies, tradeoffs, metrics, and asks.
  • Establish product accountability and decision rights across business process owners, product teams, engineering teams, and execution teams.
  • Resolve cross-program dependencies before they become blockers for launch, adoption, or supportability.
  • Partner with engineering teams to move programs from concept and PRD through design, implementation, validation, launch, and hypercare.
  • Drive adoption of standardized planning processes, exception workflows, data quality controls, and governance mechanisms across planner communities.
