About The Position

The Enterprise Functions Technology (EFT) group provides technology solutions and support for business lines including Risk, Audit, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Corporate Properties, and Stakeholder Relations, as well as Wells Fargo Technology, Enterprise Shared Services, and Enterprise Data Management. The Cloud Enablement team within Cloud and Infrastructure Engineering supports cloud adoption across the EFT portfolio through consulting, solution design, engineering support, and reusable enablement assets. It designs, builds, and optimizes cloud infrastructure and develops tools, training, documentation, and best practices to help developers build, deploy, and operate cloud-native applications. The team uses standardization, automation, and knowledge sharing to support a “you build it, you run it” operating model and reduce friction for application teams. The Principal Engineer will lead complex cloud modernization and platform engineering initiatives from strategy through execution, providing expertise in public cloud, Kubernetes, Infrastructure-as-Code, and automation. The role drives modernization, innovation, and operational excellence using AI-enabled and agentic solutions; advises on architecture, reusable solution patterns, cross-functional process alignment, and automation strategy; and enables scalable delivery through technical leadership and hands-on execution. The engineer will also break complex features into actionable stories for contractors and junior team members and mentor those colleagues. This role suits a hands-on engineering leader familiar with infrastructure across virtual machines, containers, AWS, Azure, and GCP, and focused on removing barriers with scalable automation and practical, developer-focused solutions. The position must be located in a listed location on the job requisition and requires at least three days per week in the office. Wells Fargo emphasizes risk mitigation, compliance, proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, and sound risk decisions. The company is an equal opportunity employer and provides disability accommodations upon request.
