About The Position

The Principal Engineer, Mechanical Design supports all phases of the design cycle, from preliminary and detailed design through validation, manufacturing, and operational service. The role designs components within the fan and low-pressure compressor (LPC) modules, including cases, frames, IBRs, bypass ducts, and kinematics. It supports the existing 24K and 30K fleet by improving component commonality and optimization to meet current and future business and customer needs. The engineer works to improve maintainability for commercial customers and MRO facilities, and collaborates with development departments on testing and verification of field issues and redesigns. The role develops common procedures and standard work, prepares design proposals and supporting documentation, evaluates component layouts and stack-ups, and performs cost studies. It resolves complex design problems, reviews drawings and calculations for accuracy and standards compliance, coordinates interrelated design work, and provides technical leadership to integrated product teams. It may also assist in training less experienced engineers.
