About The Position

Lankershim Elementary School is seeking an exceptional candidate for the position of Principal. This role requires strong instructional leadership and a passion for supporting growth in teaching and learning, with an emphasis on integrating technology into the instructional program. As an instructional leader, the candidate should understand best practices in education and be able to guide teachers in implementing these practices. The principal will be adept at analyzing student data, identifying areas for improvement, and designing targeted interventions. Knowledge of the LAUSD Teaching and Learning Framework is essential, as is the ability to provide constructive feedback and support to teachers to enhance their instructional strategies and improve student outcomes. The principal should foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth among staff. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate professionalism, strong communication and listening skills, welcome faculty input in decision-making, possess excellent planning and organizational skills, prioritize tasks effectively, use creativity to solve problems, and be committed to collaborative work with all stakeholders. Lankershim Elementary is a school-wide Title I school serving approximately 306 students in TK through Grade 5, with a strong academic program including STEAM and GATE. The school aims to provide a supportive learning environment where students can thrive and reach their full potential, serving as a community hub for family support services. The student population is diverse, with 32% English Learners and 24% students with special needs. The school is located at 5250 Bakman Avenue, North Hollywood, CA 91601.

Requirements

  • Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in an elementary school.
  • Two years of service in a position that required and utilized an administrative credential, such as assistant principal or equivalent position.
  • A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching.
  • A valid California Administrative Services Credential.
  • Multicultural coursework.
  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • District Master Plan requirements.
  • Candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying.
  • Candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program to be placed in the eligible pool.
