About The Position

Enbridge is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer specializing in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to serve as a senior technical authority for electrical systems across its utility-scale battery energy storage portfolio. The role shapes engineering standards and asset strategies, guides projects from development through operations, and advances the safety, reliability, performance, and lifecycle value of BESS assets. The internal job title is Electrical Engineering Specialist – Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The position develops fleet standards, technical specifications, operating philosophies, and engineering best practices; leads complex technical investigations; and creates reliability, maintenance, asset-management, augmentation, replacement, warranty, and spare-parts strategies. It provides engineering governance for system changes through risk assessment and Management of Change, and represents Operations across project development, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, testing, and turnover. The role also advances regulatory compliance, battery safety, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement while mentoring engineers and influencing multidisciplinary teams. The work is based in an office environment and involves moderate travel of up to 25%, including regular field visits to supported sites. The employee must be able to travel and work throughout Canada and the United States, hold a valid passport, and maintain a valid driver's license and responsible driving record.
