About The Position

Jabil is seeking a highly experienced Principal Electrical Controls Engineer for its Data Center Infrastructure team. The role leads development, optimization, and implementation of advanced control systems across critical infrastructure products and automation platforms, with an emphasis on data center infrastructure, power and energy management, and industrial automation. The engineer owns control-system architecture across PLC, BMS, EPMS, and ATS platforms, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability. The work also includes developing wiring-harness systems, schematics, harness architecture, panel layouts, specifications, component selections, and designs for manufacturing; implementing test processes; and ensuring equipment alignment for operational excellence. The position develops control specifications, functional design documents, interface definitions, control logic, sensor integration, and communications protocols. It validates systems through simulation, testing, and commissioning; leads factory and site acceptance testing; and supports deployment, troubleshooting, and optimization. The engineer also develops system-level simulations and digital twins, defines integration strategies with enterprise platforms, establishes reusable design practices, resolves complex system issues, and maintains technical and operational documentation. The role collaborates with electrical, mechanical, software, and facilities engineering teams, customers, supply-chain partners, commissioning and field teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders. It facilitates design reviews and planning sessions, aligns designs with business requirements and operational constraints, assesses risks and project milestones, and mentors less experienced engineers. The DCI team works on end-to-end data center infrastructure, including power distribution, cooling, mechanical structures, and fiber and networking infrastructure, and partners primarily with cloud providers. The position is remote or based in Austin, Texas, and requires up to 25% domestic and/or international travel (rare).
