About The Position

Designs and delivers enterprise-scale cloud platforms across cloud-native and containerized environments. Defines technical vision and engineering standards for observability platforms, including service reliability metrics, monitoring practices, dashboards, and alerting strategies that support proactive and automated responses. Establishes service level indicators (SLIs), service level objectives (SLOs), and telemetry collection frameworks for dashboards, intelligent alerting, and automated incident response across multicloud and containerized environments. Architects and develops OpenTelemetry-based components and pipelines, and provides technical leadership in distributed systems architecture and data engineering to support AI and machine learning initiatives. Analyzes telemetry patterns to inform system performance, resiliency, capacity planning, and autonomous operations. The role also develops cloud-based software applications, defines application-level architecture, participates in architecture design teams, and performs complex technical and functional analysis across multiple projects. It mentors junior team members, promotes cloud-native best practices, drives innovation in observability, and advises senior management on technical strategy.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent), and five years of experience as a Principal Cloud Engineer or in a closely related occupation performing cloud-native software development, infrastructure-as-code automation, and observability engineering in enterprise Kubernetes and Linux-based distributed environments; alternatively, a master’s degree in one of those fields (or foreign education equivalent) and three years of such experience.
Demonstrated expertise designing and implementing software applications using Python, C++, and Golang.
Demonstrated expertise architecting and deploying cloud-native infrastructure and multi-tiered systems using Linux, Kubernetes, and AWS Cloud Services, including advanced networking, storage configuration, and containerization for scalable, resilient, and highly available workloads.
Demonstrated expertise developing infrastructure-as-code frameworks using Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines built on Jenkins and ALM platforms.
Demonstrated expertise developing data and network automation pipelines using Python-based frameworks and observability tools including Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, and Fluentd.

Responsibilities

Optimize and advance monitoring and observability systems for cloud-native systems.
Design alerting rules for proactive issue identification and resolution.
Collaborate with teams to define alert thresholds and escalation procedures.
Analyze metrics data to identify performance bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
Create visualizations and reports that provide insights for stakeholders.
Contribute to data retention and archiving strategies.
Collaborate with the infrastructure team to integrate and scale Grafana and Prometheus.
Fine-tune configurations to achieve optimal resource utilization and performance.
Monitor equipment functioning to ensure systems operate according to specifications.
Analyze information to recommend and plan installations of new systems and modifications to existing systems.
Mentor junior team members, promote cloud-native best practices, and drive innovation in observability.
Develop software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
Participate in architecture design teams and define and implement application-level architecture.
Develop cloud-based software applications, components, and subsystems for complex projects.
Recommend development testing tools and methodologies, and review and validate test plans.
Provide technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates for technology initiatives.
Advise senior management on technical strategy.
Perform independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects and divisional initiatives.
Develop original and creative technical solutions for ongoing development efforts.
