About The Position

GES is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to join its Defense Enclave Services (DES) team. The role supports a digital modernization program for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and Department of Defense (DoD) Fourth Estate Agencies. The engineer designs, develops, configures, and deploys Azure IaaS/PaaS and SaaS services to meet end-user requirements, and supports modernization projects that include migrating applications from on-premises environments to the cloud and implementing zero-trust network initiatives. Work includes designing, deploying, testing, and migrating solutions. The engineer will also serve as the sole engineer supporting migration of data from an on-premises FlexLogic DB to a cloud Oracle database, with support from the application vendor.

The position is remote, with the ability to work onsite at Ft. Meade if required. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and possess an active SECRET or higher DoD clearance. The role supports Fourth Estate networks and users, including cloud solutions serving approximately 400,000 users.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 12+ years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience managing teams of engineers, including mentoring and fostering communication and collaboration.
• Expertise designing, deploying, and operating solutions built on Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience with Identity Access Management (IDAM), AzureAD, and CyberArk, Okta, or other modern ICAM solutions.
• Experience developing and deploying Infrastructure as Code (IaC), using continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools, and leveraging automation platforms such as Ansible or Azure Functions.
• Understanding of Federal Government application, server, and network security requirements, such as NIST, FedRAMP, and FISMA.
• Ability to work effectively within a distributed technical team, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Current IAT Level II or higher certification, such as Security+ or CISSP; proof of compliant certification must be provided upon submission of the applicant.
• Active SECRET or higher DoD clearance.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Must be able to work onsite at Ft. Meade if required.

Nice To Haves

• Recognized cloud certification, such as Microsoft Azure Associate Administrator.
• Familiarity with the Atlassian suite, including Jira and Confluence.
• Experience with the PrinterLogic application and database.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy system architecture as code for IaaS/PaaS/SaaS services in Azure Cloud.
• Provide input to the design of the enterprise cloud and mission architecture.
• Evaluate and support application architectures across platforms to ensure alignment with cloud and application modernization strategies, capabilities, and requirements.
• Identify opportunities for improvement, including innovations that improve user experience and efficiency and lower sustainment costs.
• Enforce security best practices and guidelines, applying knowledge of security policies, network security, and data security.
• Interact frequently with the cloud engineering team to identify improvement areas and facilitate engineers’ career growth, including participating in annual performance reviews.
• Scale cloud solutions and migrate data center capabilities to the cloud to support Fourth Estate networks and users.
• Design, deploy, test, and migrate modernization solutions, including supporting application migrations from on-premises environments to the cloud.
• Serve as the sole engineer supporting migration from an on-premises FlexLogic DB to a cloud Oracle database, with application vendor support.
