Principal Analog and Mixed Signal Electrical Engineer

Echodyne Corp•Kirkland, WA
•$164,594 - $246,788

About The Position

Echodyne is seeking a Principal Analog and Mixed-Signal Electrical Engineer for its Advanced Technology Development team. The role leads development of new circuit architectures, signal chains, power solutions, and rapid hardware prototypes for future radar products. The engineer will contribute to prototype development involving high-speed data acquisition, precision timing, compute interfaces, calibration hardware, and power entry and conditioning for a larger radar platform. The position offers technical ownership within a cross-disciplinary team, with work advancing from experimentation and prototypes toward future radar products. The successful candidate has deep hands-on analog and mixed-signal design experience, sound technical judgment, and a disciplined experimental approach. They will carry hardware from architecture through characterization and product transition, and provide Principal-level technical leadership through design reviews, mentoring, hands-on problem solving, lab investigations, and transfer of proven capabilities into product development. Echodyne develops compact solid-state true beam-steering radar using patented metamaterials and software. Its radars serve industries and applications including automotive, transportation, critical infrastructure protection, border security, smart cities, uncrewed aircraft systems, and airspace management.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on analog and mixed-signal circuit design experience across architecture, schematic design, simulation, layout support, prototype bring-up, characterization, and verification.
  • Experience with low-noise receiver interfaces, analog-to-digital or digital-to-analog converters, down-conversion or intermediate-frequency circuits, timing, clock distribution, and frequency synthesizers.
  • Broad knowledge of signal-chain analysis, noise, linearity, dynamic range, sampling, jitter, grounding, shielding, signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI or EMC.
  • Experience with circuit modeling, SPICE simulation, design analysis, PCB implementation, laboratory instrumentation, data acquisition, and automated test.
  • Experience with power architecture, regulators and converters, power entry and conditioning, protection, sequencing, or higher-power electronic subsystems.
  • Ability to connect measured results to models, design decisions, operating limits, requirements, and technical risks.
  • Experience in advanced development, applied research, rapid prototyping, or early hardware technology maturation.
  • Competence with MATLAB, SPICE tools, Ansys Electronics Desktop, or equivalent analysis and simulation environments.
  • Ability to communicate complex electrical recommendations clearly across engineering disciplines.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field and at least 12 years of relevant electrical hardware development experience, or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
  • Eligibility to handle export-controlled technical data, including ITAR- and EAR-controlled information. Applicants will be asked to identify whether they are a U.S. citizen or green card holder, or have asylum/refugee status in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing hardware for radar, sensing, aerospace, defense, autonomous systems, or other high-reliability and mission-critical products.
  • Experience with FPGA or SoC hardware integration, high-speed serial interfaces, hardware-in-the-loop testing, or automated prototype characterization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead analog, mixed-signal, timing, data-conversion, and power technology development for critical technologies and future Echodyne radar platforms.
  • Translate emerging system needs into practical receiver interfaces, converter and clocking architectures, power circuits, prototypes, and validated reference designs.
  • Design, simulate, build, bring up, and characterize prototype hardware to prove feasibility, expose limits, and reduce technical risk early.
  • Collaborate with RF, FPGA, PCB design, systems, mechanical, manufacturing, and other stakeholders to deliver mission-critical hardware within engineering constraints.
  • Apply modern best practices and establish practical guidance for reliability, design for manufacturing (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), signal and power integrity, and testability.
  • Provide Principal-level leadership through architecture and design reviews, mentoring, hands-on problem solving, lab investigation, and transition of proven capabilities into product development.
