About The Position

The purpose of the role is to oversee and manage transactional processes, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and maintaining accurate documentation for financial transactions. The role involves coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, including legal counsel, credit risk management, and other departments, to ensure that transactions are executed in a timely and efficient manner. It also includes the creation, review, negotiation, and management of legal documents such as loan agreements, security documents, and other transactional documents. Transaction support, including preparation of transaction summaries, conducting due diligence, and support to other departments as needed, is also a key aspect. The role requires the development and implementation of transaction processes and procedures to ensure consistency. Additionally, it involves the pro-active identification, communication, and provision of legal advice on applicable laws, rules, and regulations (LRRs), keeping up-to-date with changes to LRRs, and ensuring they are effectively allocated and reflected within policies, standards, and controls. As a Vice President, the role involves contributing to or setting strategy, driving requirements, and making recommendations for change. This includes planning resources, budgets, and policies; managing and maintaining policies/processes; delivering continuous improvements; and escalating breaches of policies/procedures. If managing a team, responsibilities include defining jobs and responsibilities, planning for the department’s future needs and operations, counselling employees on performance, and contributing to employee pay decisions. The role may also involve leading specialists to influence department operations, aligning with strategic and tactical priorities, balancing short and long-term goals, and ensuring budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements. For an individual contributor, the role requires being a subject matter expert, guiding technical direction, leading collaborative assignments, and training/coaching less experienced specialists. The role requires advising key stakeholders, managing and mitigating risks, demonstrating leadership in risk management and controls, and collaborating with other business areas. Solutions will be created based on sophisticated analytical thought, and in-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions. As a Barclays Prime Services Negotiator VP, you will be responsible for drafting, negotiating, and executing capital markets contract documentation to support the Prime Services and Prime Derivative Services businesses. This role requires expertise in drafting, negotiating, and executing prime services agreements (including cash prime brokerage agreements, futures agreements, OTC clearing agreements, and ISDA master agreements, Intermediation agreements (FXPBA), repurchase agreements (GMRA/GMSLA) and stock lending agreements (MSLA)), and providing high-quality service to clients in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Experience with the suite of capital markets contract documentation, including the drafting, negotiating, and executing of these agreements.
  • Experience working with the prime services, prime derivatives services, and related financing businesses.
  • Extensive legal analysis and written/oral communication skills.
  • Ability to advise senior stakeholders on risk, controls, and legal requirements.
  • Proven capability to manage complex negotiations and execute documentation under tight timelines.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls.
