Primary Care Physician
About The Position
The St. Cloud VA Medical Center is seeking a Primary Care Physician to provide comprehensive primary care services to Veteran patients. This role involves diagnosing, treating, and managing acute and chronic conditions, performing patient assessments, developing care plans, and coordinating care with other healthcare professionals. The physician will also be responsible for prescribing medications, documenting patient encounters in the electronic health record, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with VA clinical practice guidelines. This is a full-time position with two FTEs available, working Monday through Friday during standard business hours.
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine (ABIM) or Family Medicine (ABFM)
- Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state
- Active DEA registration
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
- NPI number

- Minimum 2 years of primary care experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive primary care services to Veteran patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic conditions
- Perform patient assessments, physical examinations, and develop individualized care plans
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and laboratory results
- Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with established protocols
- Coordinate patient care with specialists, nursing staff, and ancillary services
- Document all patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic health record
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and peer review activities
- Provide patient education on disease prevention, wellness, and self-management
- Ensure compliance with VA clinical practice guidelines and standard operating procedures
