Pricing Analyst

RunBuggy OMI•Tempe, AZ

About The Position

RunBuggy is hiring a Pricing Analyst to develop and maintain competitive, accurate, and profitable pricing for vehicle transportation lanes across customer and market segments. The role combines automotive logistics expertise with advanced data analysis to evaluate market conditions, transportation costs, customer requirements, and margin performance; build pricing models and dashboards; and identify opportunities to improve profitability and pricing accuracy. The analyst maintains rate structures, validates pricing and billing data, supports bids and contract pricing, and partners with Sales, Operations, Finance, Data Science, and Engineering to turn findings into actionable recommendations. Pricing experience in automotive transportation is highly preferred. The position develops lane pricing across OEM, bank, dealer, auction, and customer delivery networks; benchmarks rates using internal history and external market data; maintains customer-specific rate tables and related pricing configurations; recommends rate changes; and builds analytical models, tools, and dashboards. It also audits pricing and billing data, supports bids and new-customer pricing, manages pricing governance and master data, documents methodologies and assumptions, communicates findings to business leaders, and improves reporting and pricing processes. Applicants who include a cover letter describing how their experience, education, and skills meet the job requirements will receive priority during review. The stated pay range is $100,000–$125,000, varying by location, job level, experience, education, and skills. RunBuggy has over 190 team members and has operated since 2019.

  • Strong knowledge of lane pricing, transportation cost drivers, carrier rates, customer contracts, fuel surcharges, accessorial charges, detention, storage, re-delivery, and expedited transportation.
  • Ability to benchmark internal lane pricing against external market data and industry research, analyze large datasets, and translate findings into pricing and margin recommendations grounded in customer profitability, contribution margin, cost-to-serve, revenue leakage, and pricing variance.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting customer bids, contract negotiations, annual rate reviews, and spot-market pricing.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, complex formulas, lookups, data reconciliation, scenario analysis, and financial modeling.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document methodologies, assumptions, pricing rules, and model outputs and explain complex findings to cross-functional and executive stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple pricing initiatives independently, accurately, and on deadline.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain lane pricing for vehicle transportation across OEM, bank, dealer, auction, and customer delivery lanes, accounting for market conditions, carrier capacity, route characteristics, volume, lead times, geography, seasonality, and service requirements.
  • Benchmark rates against internal history and external market data, identify pricing gaps and underperforming lanes, assess margin compression and revenue leakage, and find opportunities to improve net revenue.
  • Build, update, and audit customer-specific rate tables, tariffs, lane schedules, fuel surcharge programs, and accessorial charges; translate contracts, bid awards, rate sheets, and amendments into accurate transportation management and billing system configurations.
  • Recommend origin-destination rate changes based on cost trends, market benchmarks, service levels, volume commitments, target margins, and the profitability impacts of fuel, vehicle type, load characteristics, repositioning, storage, detention, expedited service, and re-delivery.
  • Build pricing models, forecasting tools, and repeatable data-cleaning and validation workflows using Excel, Python, statistical analysis, and machine-learning or AI-assisted methods.
  • Combine internal systems, billing, contracts, operational data, and external market research into dashboards reporting lane rates, cost trends, gross and contribution margin, market variance, pricing effectiveness, and customer profitability.
  • Audit pricing and billing data for correct approved rates, fuel surcharges, effective dates, and contract terms; reconcile customer pricing, carrier costs, invoices, settlements, and remittances to identify discrepancies.
  • Support annual and spot-rate bids with lane-level cost analyses, market comparisons, pricing scenarios, and margin recommendations; price new customers, lanes, network changes, and volume shifts.
  • Partner with Sales, Operations, Finance, Data Science, and Engineering to align pricing with capacity, service commitments, customer strategy, and financial objectives; monitor performance across quoted, booked, actual, and realized rates.
  • Own pricing governance, including approval workflows, version control, effective-date procedures, and accurate origin, destination, customer, lane, carrier, and accessorial master data; correct obsolete, duplicate, or misconfigured rates.
  • Document pricing methodologies, data sources, assumptions, model logic, AI usage, and audit procedures so analyses are transparent and repeatable.
  • Communicate pricing and data-analysis findings, recommended actions, financial impact, assumptions, and risks clearly to business leaders.
  • Continuously improve pricing processes, reporting automation, data quality, and analytical tools to reduce manual work and increase accuracy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
