About The Position

Pivot, a not-for-profit agency dedicated to improving the health of youth and families across the lifespan in our community through prevention, education, counseling, and advocacy, is seeking a full-time Prevention Educator for the Watertown City School District. This position involves presenting the evidence-based substance abuse prevention program, Committee For Children's Second Step, to elementary grade students.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in counseling, health, or related discipline.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • NYS Credentialed Prevention Professional (CPP) preferred.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Active interest in preventing youth substance abuse.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to build relationships, and lead social/emotional sessions.
  • Minimum of three-years experience preferred in Education, counseling, health and wellness, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidenced-based program(s) with fidelity as defined by program parameters.
  • Be aware of most recent information and research in the alcohol/substance abuse and Student Assistance fields.
  • Maintain appropriate records by abiding with State and Federal recording and confidential guidelines.
  • Report program information and results data to supervisor and to the WITNYS online system.
