About The Position

Morris Group, Inc., a third-generation, family-owned business and one of North America's largest machine tool distributors, is seeking a motivated Preventative Maintenance Technician. Morris Midwest, a division of Morris Group, Inc., distributes CNC machine tools, tooling, accessories, and related engineering and support services. Requirements

  • Ability to concentrate and remain focused while handling multiple tasks, responsibilities, and projects.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and lifting of moderate to heavyweight material up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
  • Ability to frequently use hands and arms.
  • Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to maintain composure with the public and co-workers in stressful situations.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods while servicing equipment.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces or awkward positions, including accessing equipment interiors and elevated areas.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, with exposure to noise, lubricants, coolants, metal chips, and other manufacturing conditions, while consistently wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of machine tool manufacture, installation, operation, maintenance & repair and/or a broad shop background.
  • Manufacturing experience in CNC machine tool repair.
  • Troubleshooting skills with multi-control systems environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide scheduled maintenance of CNC production equipment using hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
  • Perform daily travel to customer facilities, with occasional overnight stays for remote locations or training.
  • Demonstrate a desire to help others and be a team player.
  • Utilize machine tool manuals, technical documents, and internal/vendor resources to research machine parts and service.
  • Act as a direct communication link between the customer and the Morris Service Group.
  • Adhere to safety laws and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
  • Promote and perform preventative maintenance on customer machine tool equipment.
  • Conduct maintenance training for customer employees.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the machine tool industry and company product lines.
  • Build brand dedication through service and customer relationships.
  • Travel and work in a safe manner, continuously learning new technology and soft skills.
  • Perform related duties as required.
