About The Position

Hood River Garbage, a Waste Connections company, is looking for an enthusiastic and safety-focused Preventative Maintenance Technician to work on our truck fleet in Hood River, Oregon. This position offers secure, steady employment for PM Technicians. The starting wage is $28.00/hour - $30.00/hour DOE. The role is considered safety sensitive.

Requirements

Driver’s license.
Basic tool set and toolbox.
Basic computer skills and ability to learn test diagnostic laptop and software.
Class B CDL or ability to obtain within 90 days of start of position.

Nice To Haves

Commercial Driver’s license A or B CDL is preferred but not required.
Experience in commercial or similar repair field is preferred but not required.
Willingness to learn new skills, and a positive attitude.
Hydraulic experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform repairs and inspections, safety checks, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on diesel vehicles.
Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.
Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
Performs maintenance related work as required.
Helping other team members with repairs as needed.
Having professional and courteous interactions with our drivers when needed.
Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks.
