Press Assistant/Feeder
About The Position
RRD is seeking a Press Feeder to prepare and support press operations. The role involves verifying job specifications and setting up the press, checking the fountain solution, inking systems, paper rolls, and reel mechanisms, and maintaining paper inventory while recording usage and spoilage. The Press Feeder prepares, mounts, and splices paper rolls and monitors paper flow throughout production, installing new rolls as needed. The position works with press operators and other Press Assistants on preventative press maintenance and assists maintenance personnel with troubleshooting and repairs. Duties may also include make-readies and adjusting ink, solvent, and varnish to establish or maintain color. Employees are expected to follow safety policies, documented ISO Quality Manual processes, and other assigned duties or special projects. The position is listed for the first shift, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

- Must be able to work in a team environment.

- Previous experience in a printing environment.
- Some experience operating various hand tools.
Responsibilities
- Verify job specifications and set up the press for a run.
- Inspect the fountain solution, inking systems, paper rolls, and reel mechanisms.
- Maintain paper inventory and record usage and spoilage on the SPC report.
- Unwrap and mount paper rolls and prepare them to be spliced.
- Monitor paper flow during the run and prepare and install new rolls as needed.
- Work with press operators and other Press Assistants on preventative press maintenance.
- Assist maintenance personnel with troubleshooting and press repairs.
- Assist with make-readies as needed.
- Adjust ink, solvent, and varnish as needed to establish or maintain proper color.
- Follow and promote safety policies and procedures, including hazardous-waste handling, lockout/tagout rules, and hearing and eye protection policies.
- Follow requirements in the documented process defined by the ISO Quality Manual.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
