About The Position

The Preschool Teacher Assistant helps create a fun, engaging, and safe environment where children can grow and learn while upholding YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. The role supports preschool teachers in the classroom and helps implement curriculum and activities that foster children’s physical, social-emotional, and cognitive development. Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Complete MODS (Introductory Child Care Training, Part 1 & 2).
Work well as a team member.
Be able to engage with children indoors and outdoors for extended periods.
Be available to work Monday through Friday.
Complete a pre-employment drug test and Level 2 background screening.

Experience working with preschool-aged children.

Responsibilities

Work alongside Preschool Teachers to provide an enriching classroom experience for children.
Help implement the curriculum in ways that promote creativity and learning.
Lead and facilitate interactive games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling activities that foster children's physical, social-emotional, and cognitive development.
Support positive behavior by setting clear and consistent rules.
Supervise meals, outdoor play, and free play, ensuring children's safety and well-being.
Engage with children indoors and outdoors and participate in planning and leading activities.
