About The Position

Preschool Substitute Teachers work with a variety of students and use different teaching methods and techniques. They step into classrooms when teachers are absent, maintain established daily routines, support planned learning activities, and provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for young children. The role also includes communicating with parents and guardians, collaborating with co-teachers and school staff, helping children with meals, snacks, rest periods, and personal care, and keeping the classroom clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations and licensing guidelines. This is an on-call position located in Altadena, California, with a pay range of $24.00–$26.00.

Requirements

• Complete 12 ECE semester units or 18 quarter units, including coursework in Child Growth and Development, Child, Family, and Community, and Program/Curriculum; alternatively, have a bachelor's degree in Child Development.
• Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with young children.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

• Prior teaching experience with young students is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist children during meals, snacks, rest periods, and routine personal care, including toileting and diaper changing as needed.
• Keep the classroom clean and organized and comply with safety regulations and licensing guidelines.
• Perform other related classroom duties and school support tasks as assigned.
