About The Position

Full-time Preschool classroom paraprofessional provide academic and/or social-emotional support and services to students by fostering a nurturing environment and caring connections.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Prior job-related experiences, paid or voluntary, with 3 and 4 year old children
  • Licensed
  • Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions.
  • Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.
  • Successful completion of criminal history and fingerprint background check in accordance with state licensing requirements.
  • Current certification in CPR and First Aid, or the ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
  • Completion of all required state training, including Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention, Emergency Preparedness, and any other training required by state licensing regulations.
  • Meet all state health and immunization requirements for childcare personnel.
  • Maintain compliance with all state licensing regulations and diocesan policies as a condition of employment such as Virtus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students in completing classroom assignments and projects.
  • Assure student understanding of classroom rules and procedures and assist students by answering questions, providing proper examples, emotional support, friendly attitude and general guidance.
  • Assist in adhering to licensure rules and regulations
  • Read to students; Assist teachers with the implementation of lesson plans.
  • Tutor individual or small groups of students, reinforcing instruction as directed by the teacher
  • Supervise students throughout the school building and on the playground.
  • Assists in maintaining a neat, orderly and attractive learning environment; Monitors student activities, student behavior, and changes in student behavior, Maintains a safe and positive learning environment; Participates in daily activities, training sessions
  • Disposes of waste contaminated materials, food and toys to maintain the hygiene and health of students and staff;
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions;
  • Participate in in-service education, conferences or formal classes related to assignment;
  • Show initiative when working with children or using materials;
  • Maintain cooperative, effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work;
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records;
  • Meet schedules and deadlines;
  • Assist in additional duties as assigned by administration.
