About The Position

Full-time Preschool classroom paraprofessional provide academic and/or social-emotional support and services to students by fostering a nurturing environment and caring connections.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Prior job-related experiences, paid or voluntary, with 3 and 4 year old children
Licensed
Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions.
Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.
Successful completion of criminal history and fingerprint background check in accordance with state licensing requirements.
Current certification in CPR and First Aid, or the ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
Completion of all required state training, including Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention, Emergency Preparedness, and any other training required by state licensing regulations.
Meet all state health and immunization requirements for childcare personnel.
Maintain compliance with all state licensing regulations and diocesan policies as a condition of employment such as Virtus.

Responsibilities

Assist students in completing classroom assignments and projects.
Assure student understanding of classroom rules and procedures and assist students by answering questions, providing proper examples, emotional support, friendly attitude and general guidance.
Assist in adhering to licensure rules and regulations
Read to students; Assist teachers with the implementation of lesson plans.
Tutor individual or small groups of students, reinforcing instruction as directed by the teacher
Supervise students throughout the school building and on the playground.
Assists in maintaining a neat, orderly and attractive learning environment; Monitors student activities, student behavior, and changes in student behavior, Maintains a safe and positive learning environment; Participates in daily activities, training sessions
Disposes of waste contaminated materials, food and toys to maintain the hygiene and health of students and staff;
Understand and carry out oral and written directions;
Participate in in-service education, conferences or formal classes related to assignment;
Show initiative when working with children or using materials;
Maintain cooperative, effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work;
Maintain confidentiality of student records;
Meet schedules and deadlines;
Assist in additional duties as assigned by administration.
