About The Position

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) is seeking a talented Preschool Family Community Engagement Supervisor to make an impact in the lives of others. This role involves coordinating family services, including eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, and attendance (ERSEA). The supervisor will ensure the provision of parent involvement activities, fatherhood/male involvement, and social services for Head Start/Early Head Start (HS/EHS) children and their families. They will provide program assistance and guidance to parents and office staff, coordinate and document referrals to outside agencies, and act as a community liaison. This position is also responsible for leading child abuse and neglect related activities, supervising assigned staff, and participating in HS/EHS Quality Assurance efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, health services, or a social sciences-related field.
  • Working knowledge of community resources related to health service, disabilities, and safety services.
  • Working knowledge of computer, word processing, spreadsheets, and software (MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • At least three years of experience working in a social services environment that serves culturally diverse low-income children and families.
  • At least one year of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Experience working with comprehensive record-keeping systems.
  • Successful completion of a Level II background screening, local criminal record check, and drug screening prior to hiring.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of social work and human behavior.
  • Knowledge of human development and health.
  • Knowledge of social services and health services available in the area.
  • Knowledge of computer data entry processes.
  • Knowledge of family-centered practices.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and instructions orally and in writing.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to speak before groups of individuals, such as Committees and Staff meetings.
  • Ability to calculate amounts by adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and figuring percentages.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to make recommendations and develop implementation strategies.
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet designated deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Training or coursework in early childhood development.

Responsibilities

  • Write, review, and revise Family Community Partnership work plans annually in consultation with the FACE Program Manager/Supervisors/Specialists.
  • Develop and monitor a system for administering and monitoring the work plan, ensuring compliance with HS/EHS work plan, child care licensing guidelines, and HS Performance Standards.
  • Conduct periodic chart audits and case reviews.
  • Share responsibility for ERSEA with fellow FCE Supervisors and FCE Program Manager.
  • Monitor the waiting list to ensure its viability each month and ensure the program is at full enrollment within 30 days of the start of program services, with all vacancies filled within 30 days throughout the year.
  • Coordinate recruitment activities throughout the community.
  • Establish procedures for the social services portion of the program with parents and staff to support effective implementation of services, including fatherhood/male involvement activities and parent volunteers.
  • Support Center Directors and classroom staff in coordinating monthly Parent Committee activities and Family Nights.
  • Establish procedures for the family and community partnership portion of the program to support effective implementation of services to families.
  • Develop and implement a plan and system of continuous monitoring and evaluation of program activities to ensure families' needs are met.
  • Work with other managers/specialists/supervisors/coordinators to develop a system utilizing a child tracking system for family partnership agreements, tracking referrals, individual contracts, home visits, and follow-ups.
  • Serve as the contact for designated social services partners, continuing to develop and nurture collaborative relationships.
  • Serve as the lead and key coordinator for the child abuse and neglect reporting system, ensuring staff are aware of and trained on identification and reporting laws.
  • Develop relationships with community partners for family referrals.
  • Work closely with other managers/specialists/supervisors/coordinators and agency staff to support arrangements for identification, referrals, parent permission, confidentiality of records, evaluation, and individual program planning for children with special needs.
  • Coordinate and participate in regular team staffing of children and facilitate any special meetings related to child staffing.
  • Attend home visits, parent conferences, and/or IEP/IFSP meetings when necessary or requested.
  • Assist other staff with the transition of HS children to kindergarten or with children transitioning into HS/EHS.
  • Determine collective training needs for assigned FCE staff and coordinate a training schedule.
  • Plan and direct the work of assigned staff.
  • Observe and provide feedback to supervised staff or volunteers on at least a weekly basis.
  • Prepare and present performance appraisals and professional development plans in a timely manner.
  • Take corrective action as needed.
  • Develop and support the professional development plan for supervised staff.
  • Prepare written or verbal reports to Program Leadership on department activities and status.
  • Monitor the budget related to social services and parent involvement areas.
  • Complete the identification, purchase, and annual inventory of content area supplies and equipment in accordance with the budget.
  • Attend all required staff and parent meetings and activities.
  • Attend all workshops and meetings as deemed necessary by Program Leadership.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding HS/EHS children, families, and staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
