About The Position

The Community and Family Engagement Coordinator will serve as a key connector between Citizenship and Science Academy of Rochester, families, students, and the broader Rochester community. The Coordinator will plan and implement family engagement activities, oversee family-centered events, support student recruitment and enrollment, and facilitate the Parent Advisory Council. This position also includes cross-training in administrative assistant functions to provide operational support and coverage as needed. The ideal candidate is a relationship-builder with deep community connections, strong communication skills, and demonstrated experience engaging families and community stakeholders in meaningful and culturally responsive ways.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Education, Social Work, Community Development, or a related field; OR Three (3) or more years completed toward a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least five (5) years of professional experience in community and family engagement; OR Associate degree and at least seven (7) years of professional experience in community and family engagement; OR High school diploma or equivalent and at least ten (10) years of professional experience in community and family engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with community organizations, local leaders, nonprofits, social service agencies, colleges, businesses, and other stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration that support students, families, and school initiatives.
  • Coordinate community-based resources and services that benefit students and families.
  • Represent the school at community meetings, events, and outreach activities.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and community organizations.
  • Build partnerships that support student attendance, family wellness, enrichment opportunities, and academic success.
  • Develop and coordinate meaningful family engagement initiatives and activities.
  • Organize workshops, informational sessions, celebrations, and family-centered events throughout the school year.
  • Foster welcoming and inclusive relationships with families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Provide outreach and support to families to encourage active participation in school programs and activities.
  • Assist families in accessing school and community resources.
  • Support communication between school staff and families.
  • Promote family involvement in student achievement and school improvement efforts.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the Parent Advisory Council.
  • Recruit and engage parent participation in advisory council meetings and activities.
  • Prepare agendas, meeting materials, and communication for council meetings.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to address parent concerns, feedback, and recommendations.
  • Support parent leadership development and advocacy opportunities.
  • Ensure parent voices are represented in school initiatives and decision-making processes.
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to meet enrolment goals
  • Facilitate the onboarding of new students, including orientation, registration, and placement
  • Use data analysis tools to track, report, and forecast enrolment trends
  • Provide ongoing support to current students to improve retention
  • Participate in cross-training for administrative assistant responsibilities to provide support and coverage as needed.
  • Assist with front office operations during staff absences or high-demand periods.
  • Support student and family inquiries in a professional and welcoming manner.
  • Assist with scheduling, phone communication, visitor management, data entry, filing, and document preparation.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student, family, and staff information.
  • Collaborate with administrative staff to ensure efficient school operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, partnerships, and family engagement participation.
  • Collect feedback and data to evaluate the effectiveness of engagement initiatives.
  • Assist with grant-related community outreach or reporting efforts as assigned.
  • Support school-wide events and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by school leadership.
