About The Position

This position is accountable for supporting the Preschool Early Intervention (PEI) Program’s Child Find responsibilities through the coordination of the intake process from a variety of referral sources to ensure identification of preschoolers eligible for special education services. This position supports activities related to PEI program operations and student educational planning to promote student achievement and maximize student outcomes.

Requirements

  • Level II PDE Certification in Special Education PK-12 or either School Speech and Language Pathologist or Speech and Language Impaired PK-12 required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in special education or early intervention
  • Understanding of federal and state special education laws and regulations
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and willingness to experiment with new technologies
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, work under pressure, and handle multiple initiatives.
  • Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with individuals and teams
  • Ability to travel across the county and/or state as needed
  • Ability to comply with AIU policies and procedures
  • Current Act 114, Act 34, Act 151 and NSOR Clearances required prior to an offer (Must be dated within 1 year of hire date).
  • School Personnel Health Record (Form H511.340) must be completed and received by Human Resources prior to hire date.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in special education or related services is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the intake process by managing referrals from identified sources (Infant / Toddler Transition, On-Records, or Screening) and assigning staff to support mandated Child Find regulations.
  • Represents as the local educational agency in matters related to educational planning for new and continuing students by reviewing Evaluation Reports, serving as LEA Representative in IEP meetings, and facilitating the kindergarten transition process to support student achievement and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Collaborates with Principal Directors and other administrators to plan, coordinate, and/or present professional development activities to ensure staff are current in new and effective practices, program procedures, laws and regulations.
  • Represents and promotes the AIU and Preschool Early Intervention by partnering with internal and external stakeholders to establish and maintain relationships that effectively support families and advance student outcomes.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Principal Directors or Special Projects Supervisor.
