Preschool Assistant Teacher
About The Position
Union County Community Action, Inc. (UCCA) is seeking a caring, dependable professional to support Head Start preschool classrooms and assist with safely transporting children to and from school. The position combines classroom support with driving or monitoring buses and offers the opportunity to build relationships with children and families. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. (40 hours per week), with a starting rate of up to $18.50 per hour. Requirements
- Assistant Teacher/Bus Driver I: High school diploma or GED and Child Development Associate (CDA).
- EDU 119 is required.
- A CDL is required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
- CPR and First Aid certification are required or must be obtained.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and TB test, and submit to random drug screenings.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Must be able to actively supervise young children in classroom and outdoor environments, assist children on and off the bus, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- Six months to one year of related experience is preferred.
- Assistant Teacher/Bus Driver II: An associate’s degree in Early Childhood Development or a related field is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers with classroom activities and lesson plans.
- Support children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Maintain classroom documentation and records.
- Supervise children in classroom and outdoor settings.
- Assist with transportation by driving or monitoring buses.
- Build positive relationships with children and families.
