About The Position

The Prepared Foods Associate prepares food items at pantry, fry, grill, and other kitchen stations as needed. The role also involves cleaning and maintaining the assigned station while following safety, sanitation, and organizational practices. Westborn Market is a third-generation owned and operated business with four locations across Metro Detroit, focused on quality goods, customer service, and team member relationships.

Requirements

• Ability to write legibly and read with comprehension at a level applicable to the position.
• Culinary or food service experience, including knife skills.
• Knowledge of the use and operation of kitchen utensils and equipment, including fryer, pots and pans, stove, oven, grill, dishwasher, broiler, griddle, slicers, mixers, blenders, graters, can openers, and knives.
• Proper phone etiquette when taking orders and messages.
• Ability to handle objects weighing up to 25 pounds or to stand and/or walk for more than four hours per day.
• Ability to follow basic safety precautions in a work environment involving some hazards or physical risks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items to order before and during meal periods.
• Slice and butcher meat, chicken, fish, cheese, produce, and other food products as needed.
• Follow menu portion and quality control standards.
• Examine dated labels and store incoming food supplies appropriately in storage and refrigeration areas.
• Maintain sanitized and orderly work areas in compliance with state health and safety regulations.
• Work efficiently and safely in a busy environment.
• Follow proper food handling and preparation guidelines.
• Follow Westborn Market’s time and attendance policy.
• Maintain a positive and helpful attitude throughout the shift.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
