About The Position

Westborn Market is hiring a Prepared Foods Associate to prepare food in the pantry, fry, grill, and other kitchen stations as needed. The role includes preparing food to order, maintaining portion and quality standards, and keeping the assigned station clean, safe, sanitary, and organized. The employee is expected to work efficiently in a busy environment, follow food-handling and preparation guidelines, and maintain a positive and helpful attitude throughout the shift.

Requirements

• Ability to write legibly and read with comprehension at a level applicable to the position.
• Culinary or food-service experience, including knife skills.
• Knowledge of the use and operation of kitchen utensils and equipment, including fryers, pots and pans, stoves, ovens, grills, dishwashers, broilers, griddles, slicers, mixers, blenders, graters, can openers, and knives.
• Proper phone etiquette when taking orders and messages.
• Ability to handle objects weighing up to 25 pounds or to stand and/or walk for more than four hours per day.
• Ability to follow basic safety precautions in a work environment with some exposure to hazards or physical risks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items to order before and during meal periods.
• Slice and butcher meat, chicken, fish, cheese, produce, and other food products as needed.
• Follow menu portion and quality-control standards.
• Check dated labels and store incoming food supplies appropriately in storage and refrigeration areas.
• Maintain work areas in a clean, sanitized, and orderly condition in compliance with state health and safety regulations.
• Work efficiently and safely in a busy environment.
• Follow proper food-handling and preparation guidelines.
• Comply with Westborn Market’s time and attendance policy.
• Maintain a positive and helpful attitude throughout the shift.
• Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
