About The Position

Friends of Switchpoint is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving individuals, families, and veterans experiencing poverty and homelessness in Utah since 2014. Our mission is to empower those in need by addressing the root causes of poverty, providing comprehensive plans, and supporting their journey to self-sufficiency. We are seeking an experienced line/prep cook to join our team to assist in meal preparation. The role involves setting up the prep station, managing inventory, and upholding sanitation standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
Current UT Food Handler's Permit
In-depth knowledge of restaurant best practices and cooking methods.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Aptitude for multi-tasking.
Must be able to work cooperatively and efficiently in a team.

Responsibilities

Ensuring the preparation station and the kitchen are set up and stocked.
Preparing simple components of each dish on the menu by chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and preparing sauces.
Reporting to the kitchen manager and following instructions.
Making sure food preparation and storage areas meet health and safety standards.
Cleaning prep areas and taking care of leftovers.
Stocking inventory and supplies.
Cooking menu items with the support of the kitchen staff.
Preparing and cooking daily meals and snacks for the Stepping Stones daycare program, ensuring they meet State nutrition and portion guidelines.
Other duties as assigned.
