About The Position
Prep Cooks at The Learning Experience prepare nutritious meals for children and support their growth and development through education on nutrition and balanced diets. They foster collaboration and community while working in a childcare center. CACFP kitchen experience and child care center experience are required.
Requirements
- CACFP kitchen experience.
- Child care center experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of experience in food preparation and cooking.
- Food handling certificate, or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.
Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare nutritious meals for children that meet proper nutritional requirements.
- Maintain and track food allergies for each child and communicate identified allergies to teachers daily with every food delivery to help ensure children’s safety.
- Follow food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures, including proper food storage and handling.
- Work with the Center Leadership team to purchase necessary food and supplies and maintain inventory records required by local and state agencies.
- Provide excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward parents and children; listen and communicate effectively.
- Adapt to the daily business needs of a childcare center.
