About The Position

The Sunshine House is hiring a Daycare Cook at its location at 110 Nuway Circle, Lenoir, NC 28645. The role prepares and distributes meals and snacks for children and staff in accordance with provided menus and applicable USDA, licensing, and health department guidelines. The cook is responsible for safe food preparation, proper sanitation, maintaining a safe kitchen and pantry, and keeping an inventory of food and supplies. The cook must also be willing to work in the classroom to cover breaks. The advertised pay range is $15.00–$17.00 per hour. Candidates with advanced education and experience in early childhood education may qualify for higher pay within the range. Salary evaluations and regular increases may reflect education, performance, and years of service.

Requirements

At least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Pass required background checks and health assessments.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. for child safety and emergencies.
Passion for working with young children.
Willingness to work in the classroom to cover breaks.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience working in licensed childcare.
Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for large-group food service, preferably in a childcare center.
SERV Safe certification.
Advanced education and experience in early childhood education may qualify candidates for higher pay within the range.
