About The Position

The Prep Cook prepares high-quality meals for residents of Hartsfield Village in a timely manner, using acquired knowledge and skills to prepare a variety of dishes and accommodate resident requests. The role contributes to residents’ mealtime experience and supports efficient kitchen operations through teamwork, communication, flexibility, and completion of assigned tasks. The cook prepares meals using standardized recipes and coordinates food and supply needs with serving hours while maintaining food quality, portioning, sanitation, and appearance standards. The position is with Hartsfield Village, a Continuing Care Retirement Community focused on successful aging and resident care.

Requirements

Two years of previous cook experience.
Previous experience in food service.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to regularly stand, walk, climb, balance, kneel, and crouch.
Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Previous prep cook experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare meals using standardized recipes in a safe, efficient, and sanitary manner.
Determine food and supply needs and coordinate meal production with serving hours.
Ensure foods are properly prepared, portioned, and served according to menus and standardized recipes.
Maintain or exceed standards for appearance, cleanliness, hygiene, and health.
Assist with training and orientation of new kitchen staff.
Follow state sanitation regulations and organizational food-handling policies.
Prepare a variety of dishes and accommodate resident requests.
Work collaboratively and communicate with the team to maintain efficient kitchen operations.
Complete tasks as assigned.
