Requirements

Meet educational and experience qualifications established by state law; if the state does not set requirements, meet minimum qualification standards established by the YMCA.
Be at least 18 years of age, subject to any higher minimum age required by state law.
Obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications and complete Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire.
Be able to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate program activities.
Have previous experience with diverse populations.
Have a 45-hour certificate.
Attend higher education classes to keep knowledge current.

Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting.

Responsibilities

Supervise children, the classroom, and all activities.
Make ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
Maintain communication with parents and engage parents as volunteers.
Maintain the program site and equipment.
Maintain required program records.
Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff trainings.
Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
