Early Childhood Teacher - Central Family YMCA Early Learning Center
About The Position
The Early Childhood Teacher provides a quality experience for children and parents, guided by the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. The role implements curriculum and age-appropriate activities, supervises children and classroom activities, observes and evaluates each child, communicates with families, maintains the program site and records, and follows YMCA policies and procedures. Requirements
- Meet educational and experience qualifications established by state law; where the state has no requirements, meet YMCA minimum qualification standards.
- Be at least 18 years old, subject to any higher minimum age required by state law.
- Obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications and complete child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire.
- Be able to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate program activities.
- Have a 45-hour certificate.
- Attend higher education classes to keep knowledge current.

- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting.
- Previous experience with diverse populations.
Responsibilities
- Implement curriculum within established guidelines.
- Design and implement daily lesson and activity plans.
- Supervise children, the classroom, and all activities.
- Make ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
- Maintain communication with parents and engage parents as volunteers.
- Maintain the program site and equipment.
- Maintain required program records.
- Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff trainings.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
