About The Position

The MEP systems, [mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection] (emphasis on electrical) Preconstruction Integration Manager position at Clark Pacific is an integral role accountable to lead, complete, and successfully deliver the objectives in design and procurement phases of projects. The emphasis is on proactive development and management of conceptual and actual estimates, and design-phase processes such as defining key deliverables, scheduling design, timely identification and resolution of potential issues, all planning and activities related to delivery strategies, estimating procurement and buyout, pre-planning, monitoring ongoing work progress to assure continuity, and an efficient transition to construction. As a vertically integrated manufacturer, this role will assist in supply chain management strategies and effectiveness. This role provides value alternative solutions including cost, schedule, maintenance, and life cycle implications, and is accountable for several aspects of preconstruction and design-phase development efforts, in addition to assuring that stakeholders are complying with established success factors and objectives. They will work with internal and external design and engineering teams, key trade contractors, and collaboratively lead stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of cost control, budgeting, accurate and decisive cost reporting, billings, and forecasting.
  • Knowledge of state and local building codes including accessibility.
  • Knowledge of Prime Contracts, and contract types: including lump sum, negotiated GMP and design Build.
  • Comfortable escalating issues while maintaining positive relationships with team members and other organizations.
  • Knowledge of programing and space planning skills. Familiarity of all aspects of building to include site work, structure, finishes, envelope, and MEPF systems.
  • Advanced computer skills with the ability to use MS Office with proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Project, and PowerPoint). Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Understand design, construction and operations and legal perspective of design.
  • Familiarity with database information flow/costing software.
  • General estimating or cost knowledge.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in management positions managing and coordinating Design disciplines required.
  • Proven experience working in the design phase of a project required.
  • Hands-on field experience in design and construction required.

Nice To Haves

  • LEED AP and Associated DBIA preferred.
  • MS preferred.
  • Professional Engineer or Registered Architect preferred.
  • History of Affiliations with Professional Organizations preferred (i.e. AIA, CSI, ASHRAE, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and integrate all design-phase activities & design, engineering, and specialty consultant entities (MEP, building systems, BIM, QA/QC, consultants, and trade partners) to ensure high-quality, coordinated, and constructible deliverables aligned with project objectives. On-boarding, key trade qualifications
  • Establish and actively manage design budgets, schedules, estimates, and metrics; reconcile cost trends; proactively identify and resolve risks to maintain predictability and prevent overruns.
  • Drive value engineering, constructability, life-cycle analysis, and energy efficiency strategies (e.g., LEED) to optimize cost, performance, and long-term value for owners. Alternative systems evaluations
  • Lead subcontractor and trade procurement strategies, including design-assist/design-build, bidding, buy-out (GMP), scope development, and contract coordination to eliminate gaps and ensure best value. Contract requirement integration
  • Manage permitting, utilities, code compliance, and regulatory approvals while serving as the primary design interface among owners, agencies, vendors, and internal project teams.
  • Implement LEAN design practices, standardize design management processes, develop status reporting, and lead training initiatives to strengthen organizational capability and repeatable success.
