About The Position

Precitech is seeking an experienced Precision Grinder Machinist to set up and operate precision surface grinding machines and produce finished components to extremely close tolerances. The successful candidate will have prior surface grinding or CNC machining experience and be able to read prints and follow work instructions.

The role is with AMETEK Precitech, Inc., a manufacturer of ultra-precision machine tools used to manufacture precision optics. The company is located in Keene, New Hampshire.

Requirements

• Prior surface grinding or CNC machining experience.
• Ability to grind and machine a variety of materials.
• Ability to read and work with prints, detailed specifications, and inspection reports to machine finished components.
• Experience determining feed rates and operating speeds.
• Experience with tooling and selecting grinding wheels.
• Ability to use a broad range of measuring instruments, gauges, and electronic indicators.
• Experience using computers in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to operate handling equipment such as pallet jacks and lifting cranes.
• High school diploma and/or advanced technical training, plus two or more years of equivalent experience in a similar environment.
• Ability to demonstrate machining skills sufficient to perform the position.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate surface grinding machines to produce high-precision components to exacting specifications.
• Operate other machine tools as assigned.
• Regularly interface with product engineering and manufacturing engineering.
• Perform special projects with minimal direction using prints or verbal instructions.
• Collaborate with others, including instructing or training others as requested.
• Complete paperwork to record production volume and time.
• Maintain equipment to ensure efficient operation.
• Operate safely and follow all safety procedures.
