About The Position

Pinewood Tool is hiring a precision grinding specialist to work in its precision toolroom in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. The role focuses on demanding surface-grinding work for one-off parts, prototypes, and short runs serving automotive, medical device, aerospace, industrial automation, and engineered-products industries. Parts may require tolerances to .0001 inches. The grinder will plan and set up jobs independently, own quality from the first pass through the finished part, and contribute process and technology ideas. The position also involves sharing expertise with toolmakers and apprentices. Requirements

At least 5 years of precision surface-grinding experience in a toolroom or short-run job shop.
A track record of achieving tight flatness, parallelism, and surface-finish requirements.
Strong wheel-selection and dressing skills across materials and finishes.
Expertise in precision measurement using micrometers, indicators, height gauges, and surface plates, checking parts to the tenth.
Solid blueprint-reading and GD&T skills.
Pride in craftsmanship and motivation to continually raise standards.

Responsibilities

Precision surface grind tooling and components to tight flatness, parallelism, and surface-finish specifications.
Plan and set up jobs, including workholding, wheel selection, and wheel dressing.
Hold tolerances to .0001 inches on hardened tool steel and specialty alloys.
Own quality from the first pass through the finished part.
Take on demanding jobs and share grinding knowledge with toolmakers and apprentices.
Suggest methods, tooling, and technology that can improve the company.
