About The Position

Pennoni is seeking full time and part time Precast / Prestressed Concrete Inspectors (Levels I–III) to support Quality Assurance (QA) fabrication inspection programs for major transportation infrastructure projects throughout New York and the Northeast (CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, VT). This role involves inspection of precast and prestressed concrete bridge and highway components at fabrication facilities, ensuring compliance with PCI standards, DOT specifications, approved shop drawings, and contract requirements. Inspectors will be responsible for monitoring fabrication activities, documenting quality control processes, and supporting QA programs.

Requirements

  • PCI Level I, II or III Certification
  • ACI Grade 1 Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification
  • Experience with precast concrete or reinforced concrete experience
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and QA/QC processes.
  • Ability to work independently in precast/prestressed plant environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel regionally and work flexible construction schedules, including overtime as required.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • PCI Level II or III Certification
  • NETTCP Certification
  • Experience with prestressed concrete fabrication and plant operations.
  • Familiarity with DOT specifications and associated standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-plant QA inspection of precast and prestressed concrete products for transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Monitor pre-pour, placement, post-pour, and shipping operations.
  • Inspect reinforcing steel, embedded items, formwork, and dimensional tolerances.
  • Observe and document prestressing operations, including stressing, elongation verification, and strand release procedures.
  • Sampling and testing of plastic concrete may be required.
  • Monitor work for compliance with approved shop drawings, PCI standards, and DOT specifications.
  • Identify, document, and track non-conformances and corrective actions.
  • Prepare accurate, detailed daily inspection reports documenting fabrication activities, test results, and deficiencies.
  • Coordinate with fabricators, client representatives, and project teams on project status, deficiencies, and production schedules.
  • Attend meetings and communicate with fabricators, clients and engineers
  • Adhere to site safety requirements and safe work practices
