About The Position

The Pre Surgery Assistant provides pre-surgery services by coordinating patient testing, giving instructions, and maintaining medical records. The role also administers pre-surgery care by collecting blood and urine specimens and performs clerical functions. The position is with Adventist Health Castle in Kailua, O'ahu.

Requirements

• High school education, GED, or equivalent is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy is required for the department.
• Associates are required to receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable; medical and religious exemptions may apply.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s or technical degree, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Experience in electrocardiogram (EKG).
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy.
• Phlebotomy certification.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient testing, instructions, and record keeping with the Pre-surgery Orientation team.
• Obtain blood specimens through venipuncture or capillary punctures.
• Obtain urine specimens and ensure their delivery.
• Assist with answering phones, filing, and faxing.
• Enter patient information from computer systems.
• Maintain and clean supplies used for laboratory procedures and electrocardiograms (ECG).
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
